Book Review: Daddy Moments Vol.1

Parenthood ! When we talk of it, we visualize the sacrifices of a mother, the duties performed by a mother and the unending pain a mother takes to bring up her child but what do we forget? Fathers! Isn’t it ? The role of a father is minuscule when talking of parenthood. They are the unsung heroes which we as a society fail to acknowledge. It is not that mothers are overrated, they indeed are the epitome of sacrifice but a father’s sacrifice too needs to be acknowledged.

This book by Kelvin Smith does move the spotlight to the fathers and especially the fathers of the modern era who equally contribute to the upbringing of the little one from the time they are born to the time they are ready to fly away from their nurturing nest. The book is in the form of a journal of a new dad who, like every father, cherishes every first milestone of his child. The narrative technique and the public service announcements mentioned in the book are hilarious. I guess each father is surely going to relate to the instances. The soon-to-be dads can learn the lessons from the PSA’s mentioned. The book deals with the autobiographical account of the author and his first year of DADDY-HOOD. The ups and downs he faces, the struggles he does managing his career along with his new born and also the duties which he thrives to do to give his better half a much needed break are truly realistic. We get to hear such stories only in contemporary times when fathers also do the conventional mommy tasks. This indeed is worth every acknowledgement.

This book will tickle your senses with its humorous narration while at the same time make you go on an emotional ride.

Definitely a go-to book for every dad and a worth read for everyone who wishes to embark on the beautiful journey of parenthood or are already on the same path. This book truly lives by the quote - “Any man can be a father but it takes a special man to be a DADDY”!

Happy reading !
