THE POWER OF NOW - THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO SURVIVAL

I have been reading a lot of self-help books lately, which is evident with the series of blogs about them. There is something about these books which are so empowering like nothing other. People know facts, people have ideas, but listening from someone else gives the push that we require. Seeing the current times where the entire world is amidst a pandemic, what better than diving into a self-help book and get answers to all the negativity going around in mind.

The book “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle is not the one I would be discussing exclusively as it would have been reviewed years ago. However, I got the chance to read it recently and it was certainly needed considering the current uncertain times. As the title of the book suggests, Eckhart Tolle has made all the possible efforts to talk about the PRESENT. Not past, not future, but Present. More than half of our miseries are because we tend to dwell in the past or anticipate the future who by no means anybody is sure about. Why dwell or introspect when we can enjoy what is going on. This is just one of the topics discussed in the book. It also talks about various things we can inculcate in our lives to fully enjoy our life by making peace with whatever was, is, or will be. The smallest yet the biggest thing to do is to Accept. Accept all people and situations as they are without making an effort to uselessly amend them. The way the author has approached such quests for life is commendable. So simple yet so impactful. It is not necessary that to find peace one has to go and live his/ her entire life in the woods isolated from everyone. Peace can be achieved while living amidst all, embracing the ongoing changes, and making peace with it.

The book also tells about the hard truths of life and of the darker side of human nature which is not pleasant to come across but it does serve as an eye-opener. Nothing in the world is beyond repair and so it's never too late. Enlightenment only comes when we notice the little things of life and accept it the way they are admiring their smallest beauty.
